The seniors met for the 4th annual 3-C event with Thom Grace handling the affair. The usual
caromist’s fell into three flights, with each flight winner trying their hand at the solo games.

It was Ken Majewski’s solo game that made this occasion unusual – it seems the entire room
gathered for his solo event when he flirted with an exceptional 25 innings – the applause was
evident as his scoring continued – but dame fortune intervened and his scoring slowed – Ken
finished with a .800 solo average and this has him in contention for the title.

While storms rocked the area, our flight of five players gathered to try their hand at being
the Senior champ – with shades pulled and soft music evident, the games were on.

On a normal day of playing, our players joke and tease each other constantly, but when the
senior-tour event is underway, all that changes and serious play enters – yes, we are talking
about hush tones, maybe even whispers - and no wise cracks please.

Both Walt Harris and Joe Ventrelli were finalist’s – Walt’s solo game was a .760

The number of players signed up for the Lauderdale event exceeded all expectations -
as always, we try for a half-day event, but when the smoke cleared, we had eighteen
players and all went excitingly well.

Many no-shows had late afternoon church services, but these missing players were
replaced by unexpected caromists - some traveling two hundred miles to be there -
two played in that room for the first time.

What we had was an overflow of billiard addicts who were determined to showcase
their talents and win flights - and at the same time have a few laughs on a relaxed Sun-
day afternoon socializing with cronies - lunch was served for all - including spectators.

Our many thanks to Bill Maloney who provided the newly covered tables, vacumed
often, balls cleaned between games, world war II background music, Sunday's football
games & flawless service by his staff.

The seniors met at Chris'2 Billiards to hold their first senior tour with two flights of
players at the newly remodeled room. The addition of first-rate heated tables, made this room a new gathering place. At times, Chris' 2, looked like a hospital recovery room,
some just returning from treatments that ranged from suspect knees to blood cleaning - I wouldn't be surprised if they wheeled players in iron lungs to score a few points - this
generation of 3-C players are truly a hardy bunch.

Our tour is designed to have players not travel - yet, players came from as far as Wisconsin, Rockford, and points distant to bump heads.

The National Seniors' 3-cushion Billiards qualifying event at Chris' Billiards in Chicago produced some fine play, and helped nine erstwhile competitors hang on to what
remains of their youth for a little while longer.

The field included some modest celebrities, such as noted writer/teacher Don "Preacher" Feeney and the Billiards Digest's star columnist, George Fels, who actually won the first
two tournament carom games of his life - and in one game, shot a 1.100 .

Tournament director Frank Bondzinski staggered the round-robin play to keep all caromists readily available and motivated. With very few if any  young American players on the horizon to succeed them, today's 3-cushion seniors are actually the game's
salvation in this country, and many of these veterans would like to see more such events.

Hosts, Wendell Weir and Rick Geschrey welcomed eight seniors to play in the 2002 Senior 3-Cushion Tour.

This is the newest and best billiard room in the mid-west, featuring two 5x10 Gabriel Carom Tables and twenty Gold Crown pocket tables.

Dick LaGongle and George Theobald each won their 4 man bracket and became the rooms first winners. LaGongle became the tournament winner by out shooting Theobald in their "solo" games .600 to .400.
